What are support organizations and and collaborative groups?
Collaboratives are formal or informal interorganizational structures that are:
“Collaborative” is used as an umbrella term to represent a variety of differing structures and degrees of formality for individuals and entities coming together in collaboration to advance enduring outcomes for a specific place/landscape, and is intended to include collaboratives, partnerships, networks, coalitions, alliances, working groups, etc.
Support Entities support and/or provide services that advance the abilities of collaboratives to function and work towards their goals. Examples of services may include providing facilitation support; offering training, skills-building, and/or mentoring; synthesizing science and data across scales; providing technical assistance and expertise; providing funding to support collaboratives; convening peer learning and cross-network exchanges; etc. “Support Entity” is used as an umbrella term, and is intended to reflect a variety of differing entities, including organizations, networks, public agencies, etc. that support and/or serve collaboratives.
The Find a Collaborative platform is a living inventory and map of Collaboratives and Support Entities working on landscape conservation, stewardship, and resource management in the United States and cross-border regions. This geospatial and interactive discovery tool is intended to help Collaboratives and Support Entities more easily find and connect with each other for inspiration, shared learning and exchange, problem solving, and collaboration.
